July 24, 2004 By: Kevin Brown Keep in shape when you are pregnant with an elliptical exerciserStaying in shape is one of the most important parts of our lives. Some women find it difficult to do after they become pregnant due to the added weight. An elliptical exerciser is a great solution because it offers a great no impact cardio workout. Performing high impact exercise when you are pregnant or even just overweight will put added stress on your joints. Using an elliptical exerciser eliminates this impact and reduces the risk of injury. If you consider the extra weight that a pregnant women must carry around, even walking will put more stress on the joints because of the extra weight being carried. Even an extra 10 pounds will have some effect if your body is not used to it. With an elliptical exerciser there is very little impact as the motion of the pedals is continuous with no abrupt changes in direction. If you are pregnant and looking for an alternative cardio routine, you may want to consider asking your doctor if an elliptical exerciser is right for you.
