July 31, 2004 By: Kevin Brown Cardio exercise equipmentCardio exercise equipment is by far the most popular gym equipment on the market. Machines like the treadmill, stepper, rowing machine and elliptical trainer are found in nearly all health clubs and gyms. Cardio exercise equipment is now found in many homes as people get in on the fitness craze. If you are setting up a home gym, cardio exercise equipment is a must as well as some form of weight training equipment. This can be either free weights and a bench or even a universal gym. If you are looking to lose weight and burn fat, many will tell you that hours on the cardio exercise equipment is what's needed. This is not necessarily true. Some believe that weight training three times a week along with cardio three times a week will provide the best results. You can even get away with only 20 minutes of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on your cardio exercise equipment instead of spending 45 minutes to an hour as some recommend. If done right HIIT will provide more benefits in 20 minutes than running straight for an hour. Whatever you do, make sure your home gym has a combination of cardio exercise equipment and weight training equipment.
