July 31, 2004 By: Kevin Brown Treadmill vs. EllipticalIn my humble opinion, there really is no comparison of a treadmill vs. elliptical. Sure you could compare the cardio benefits and the bone strengthening benefits and this and that, but in general you would find all to be quite similar. The difference between a treadmill vs. elliptical is not that great at all when you consider these things. Where you find the biggest, and possibly the most important difference between a treadmill vs. elliptical, is when you compare the impact level of each machine, on your joints. A treadmill would be considered high impact and the elliptical non-impact. This benefit alone is what sets the two apart and, in my opinion, puts the elliptical way out in front when you compare a treadmill vs. elliptical. It's like comparing apples to apples when you look at aerobic benefits or the weight bearing benefits of building bone density, but with the elliptical machine's non impact workout, it jumps way ahead. Simply put, when you put a treadmill vs. elliptical, the elliptical machine will give you the same results with less risk of injury to your joints.
